Montville, Sunshine Coast Hinterland
Perched high on the Blackall Range in the lush Sunshine Coast Hinterland, a couples’ getaway in Montville combines greenery with luxury.
DO Stroll the tree-lined main street of the town, which is crammed with arty boutiques – from the folksy to the fabulous – selling pottery, antiques and crafts. If the creative circuit gets too much, head to the Village Green; it’s home to the historic village church and hall and offers a quiet oasis in the bustle of this popular tourist haunt. Nearby, you can commune with nature in the Kondalilla National Park, known for its walks and waterfalls.
EAT AND DRINK Book your table at The Long Apron at Spicers Clovelly Estate for the decadent eight-course tasting menu. If you’re staying more than one night, you can return for the à la carte menu but if a change of scenery is in order, head into Montville to one of the cafes. Or take the hotel shuttle to sister property Spicers Tamarind Retreat at nearby Maleny, where the vibe is more relaxed and the food has an Asian tang to it. Just call for the return transfer when you’re ready.
STAY Spicers Clovelly Estate is an elegant retreat designed in French provincial style. Set in sweeping gardens with an enormous Moreton Bay fig at the front, it’s romantic and cosy (and you won’t find children staying here). There are spa suites in the main building and a separate cottage for groups, which has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. There’s also a day spa.
GET THERE Montville is a one-hour drive from Noosa Heads, on the Eumundi-Noosa Road (State Route #12 and the M1).
