The Tasting Room – Restaurant Review
Michael and Margie Andrewartha expanded what was already one of the city’s best independent wine stores to include The Tasting Room more than three years ago. Now, the steady progression from terrific charcuterie and cheese wine-bar platters to soups and salads has evolved into a full restaurant menu.
Small plates range from white anchovy soldiers on brioche toast to filling dips such as mashed cannellini beans with fried beans and hazelnuts, while more substantial dishes include crunchy karaage chicken with mustard mayo and burrata with pickled shallots, broccolini and anchovy pangrattato. The platters and toasties are still there and just as good as ever.
Inviting outdoor tables front the Vardon Avenue promenade and, of course, the wine list is one of the best in town, with any bottle from the shop available for a reasonable corkage.
