Hobart’s Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens are a brisk walk, or a short drive, from the city. It’s a gorgeous place for a walk, jog or picnic. There are Japanese and Chinese gardens and some very old trees within the garden’s walls. Of particular note is the Subantarctic Plant House, which showcases the unusual flora of Macquarie Island far to Tassie’s south. Fans of Gardening Australia will want to see the vegetable gardens once curated by the effervescent Tino Carnevale.
