Crown Metropol Melbourne – Hotel Review
From the moment you walk into the art-filled lobby of Crown Metropol Melbourne and are greeted by staff wearing sharp jeans and hoodies, you know you’ve arrived somewhere with more than a touch of contemporary flair. The hotel’s 658 rooms have a minimalist vibe, retro-inspired furniture and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the sparkling city skyline. The pièce de résistance, however, is the stunning glass-enclosed pool on the top floor, 28 levels above the city, and its adjoining Isika Day Spa, where you can chill in vitality pools and steam rooms before taking in “body-blissing” treatments. Read on for the full review.

Sharp lines, open spaces and contemporary design characterises the hotel’s plush rooms and suites, with floor-to-ceiling windows flushing the spaces with natural light. They’re minimalist but not austere, with warm beige tones and glossy blacks. All room types are unsurprisingly generous but for an ultimate weekend away
Restaurants and bars
One thing’s for certain: you won’t go hungry while staying at the Crown. At Metropol, there’s The Pub, Mr. Hive Kitchen and Bar and Bistro Guillaume; the two formers are casual and hearty, the latter is an elegant (but relaxed) French eatery of classics — Steak Frites, Moules et Frites and the like. The wider Crown precinct has notables such as Nobu, Rockpool Bar & Grill and Silks — it’d take you a week to munch your way through.
Travel for work
Business travellers should head to level three, where several spaces have been set aside for work, including a boardroom and two meeting spaces. Wi-fi is free throughout the hotel also and each room type has a full-sized desk space for ease of emails.
Pool, spa and gym
Wellness has a range of interpretations at Crown Metropol. Take a lazy length of backstroke on the hotel's 27th floor, where the pool shoulders enormous windows that peer out over the city, or peddle to nowhere on one of several bikes in the fitness centre. The level also houses an aroma steam room and vitality pool, and elsewhere, the hotel hosts Mr & Mrs by Dr Tass, where treatments span dermal fillers and body sculpting. Want something a little less permanent? Try the endorphin kick from Holey Moley, the on-site mini golf course, or catch a flick at the cinema.
Accessibility
Crown’s accessibility facilities are considered, with disabled bays in the parking area, a hoist in the pool area and dedicated concierges.
