This 3.8km track, once used by Melbourne’s socialites as a venue for horse rides, circles the King’s Domain and Royal Botanic Gardens and passes right by the Yarra River. At any time of the day you’ll find people walking and jogging around it, for both fun and fitness. When you feel as though you’ve raised enough of a sweat – perhaps you’ve attempted to break Craig Mottram’s lap record of 10 minutes and 12 seconds – cool down with a stroll around the Ornamental Lake in the gardens and stop by the kiosk at Jardin Tan for a coffee. After all, you deserve it.

Location

Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens are located just south of the CBD, hugged by the Yarra River to the east and St Kilda Road to the rest. Just over St Kilda Road to the west you’ll find Melbourne’s Arts and Leisure precinct, which includes the Arts Centre Melbourne, NGVand the shops and restaurants of Southbank.
