The White Room

With industrial overtones and an all-over white palette, this one-off B&B is one for lovers of vintage design. Owned and styled by Empire Vintage proprietor Lyn Gardener, it has all the touches of home – French linen and handmade sheets, simple breakfast provisions in the kitchenette and doors that open out onto a leafy courtyard. There’s even a small workspace if you need to plug in your laptop. Here, it’s definitely all about the detail, with gorgeous artworks, carefully selected collections and a library of books to read curled up in the leather armchairs. You might never want to leave. It’s such a kept secret that they’ll only give you the exact address when you book.

Location 

North Fitzroy is a leafy enclave with parks, shops and local restaurants nearby and just a short tram ride into the city. Nicholson Street is a major thoroughfare but the White Room has its own entrance off a cobbled laneway.
