Transformer
No, it hasn’t got anything to do with the movie franchise; instead, rather boringly as it turns out, this vegetarian eatery gets its name from the building where electrical transformers were once made. There are two halves to the space: an industrial-vibe warehouse area and a candlelit courtyard. Those who like their food fresh will be overjoyed to discover the menu is almost “fake” free (there’s no vegetarian duck for instance, although you will find an almond feta to cater to vegans). Prepare yourself for such fare as ricotta and rye gnocchi with pumpkin mousse and blueberry compote and cold soba noodle salad with wasabi cashews.
Location
Fitzroy is packed with shops, bars and restaurants and just a short tram ride into the city. Brunswick Street is the most popular artery and nearby is equally as hip Collingwood.
