Chow's Table - Restaurant Review
You’ll smell Chow’s Table before you see it.
Clustered on the same property as bean-to-bar chocolatier Gabriel Chocolate and the cellar door for House of Cards wines, this fresh-faced eatery is as notable for its repertoire of Chinese and Malay classics as it is for the heady scent of frying garlic that perfumes the car park.
The menu reflects the heritage of chef-owner Malcolm Chow as well as his time in kitchens such as Tetsuya’s and Vue de Monde. Aspic renders plump shiitake and pork dumplings ultra-juicy, while wok-fried cuttlefish is tender and smoky. Served in its own juices, a half or whole roast duck encapsulates the relaxed, sharing spirit of Chow’s Table. It’s a similar story for the drinks list: a who’s who of Asian beers. The karri bushland setting and airy dining room, meanwhile, are straight-up Margaret River.
