Fraser Suites Perth – Hotel Review

If you’re torn between apartment convenience and five-star spoils, Fraser Suites does both with an indoor swimming pool, 24/7 gym and 236 studios and suites that give the whole tribe room to spread out. Small families will love conveniences such as well-equipped kitchenettes and complimentary cots in the studios but if space is essential, the one- or two-bedrooms suites feature separate living rooms, many with private balconies. Located in a peaceful spot overlooking picturesque parklands and the Swan River, the hotel makes an excellent base from which to explore Perth by foot or bike – plus, there’s a babysitting service if you need the night off.
The location

About 20 minutes from Perth airport, the hotel nestles in a quiet pocket of East Perth, between the tranquil Queens Garden and the lush Ozone Reserve. But this doesn’t mean it’s away from the action. Cross the Matagarup Bridge, designed to look like two swans in flight, to see an AFL game or touring artist at the state-of-the-art Optus Stadium. You can also catch a cult film at the grand Girls School Cinema or let the kids run wild in the award-winning Wellington Square playground, both within easy walking distance.
The rooms
Fraser Suites Perth has stylish one-bedroom and studio configurations – which, with the turn of a key, can be transformed into sprawling two-bedroom apartments. At first glance, the interiors wouldn’t look out of place in a boardroom. But on further inspection, the sumptuous finishes (snakeskin, velvet), sculptural details and abstract Australian art gives an air of luxury. The air-conditioned apartments feature comfortable beds with a pillow menu, Malin+Goetz toiletries and well-appointed kitchenettes, some with cooktops.

Food and drink
In-house restaurant Heirloom offers flavoursome dishes and great people-watching through floor-to-ceiling glass windows. There’s quite literally something for everyone on the menu – it runs the gamut from Thai (beef salad with Nam Jim sauce) to southern USA (brisket with charred Brussel sprouts; Maryland chicken). Prefer to eat in bed? You can order each restaurant item off room service. The swish lobby bar also serves local wines and cocktails. Their signature is a Red Snapper, a tabasco Bloody Mary made with Margaret River gin and garnished with a mini Tabasco bottle.
For business travellers
It’s a natural choice with in-room desks for remote working and the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre just an eight-minute drive away. There are also four meeting rooms and an executive boardroom, with audio-visual facilities and business equipment for hire.
For wellness travellers
Stay in shape by doing laps in the indoor pool, working out in the 24-hour fitness centre, or renting a bike from the lobby for a leisurely riverside cycle. Those seeking to unwind will relish the indoor heated spa, sauna and on-site day spa Bali Beautique, which offers Indonesian-inspired pampering like steam baths and aromatherapy massage.
The fab factor
Book a room with a balcony to enjoy a local drop with incredible – and quintessentially Perth – views. You’ll see the Swan River sparkle around Heirisson Island and the sunset against the city skyline.
