Rendezvous Hotel Perth Central – Hotel Review

In a bend of the Swan River near the Perth Convention Centre, nothing is too far from this simple yet homey stay. Near the coffee mecca of Perth CBD’s western end, Rendezvous Hotel Perth Central has the city’s tick-box sights within easy walking distance. Read on for the full review.

Full-size workstations and ergonomic chairs in the simple, comfy rooms are a nice touch for business travellers, as is free wi-fi and upgradable internet packages to ensure hiccup-free video calls. An on-site sauna never goes astray, neither does a lobby bar (currently only serving drinks between 5pm and 9pm due to renovations) with a laid-back lounge area with packed bookshelves and doors opening onto a small terrace overlooking the leafy street.

Where is Rendezvous Hotel Perth Central?

Towards the western end of the CBD, Rendezvous Hotel Perth Central is on Mount Street, about 10 minutes walk from Elizabeth Quay. From Perth airport, it’s about 25 minutes by car.

What’s near Rendezvous Hotel Perth Central?

The Perth Convention Centre, Elizabeth Quay, Museum of Perth and WA Museum Boola Bardip are within strolling distance. The furthest is the latter, an easy 20-minute walk, but some, like Perth Convention Centre, are a mere 500 metres. 

Room types

There are rooms, suites and apartment room types at Rendezvous, all dressed with the hotel’s calm tonal blues with cloud grey accents. While all have coffee and tea making stations, the Apartment has a fully loaded kitchen with a full-size fridge and dishwasher — streamlining longer trips or stays with snack-hungry little ones. (For that reason, it’s a somewhat better choice than the Family Room, which, although amply spaced, has no such kitchen facilities). All have free wi-fi, work desks and bathroom goodies. 

Restaurants and bars

At the time of writing, both the Lobby Bar and in-room dining options were temporarily closed, although drinks from the former are still available — best taken to the al fresco area on a sunny day. Straits Café, the hotel’s go-to for breakfast, is a decidedly casual place that serves a full buffet, offering classics with no frills. With expert coffee roasters just down the road, why not head out for your morning coffee?

Travel for work

Large in-room desks with ergonomic chairs makes remote working easy. If the wi-fi is messing with video call quality, higher-speed wi-fi is available for an additional fee. On-site conference facilities can accommodate hundreds, but there are meeting spaces for groups as small as 10 people, too.

Gym and sauna

The on-site fitness centre is a generous size, inclusive of all the standard equipment. On the same level is a small Finnish-style sauna open 24/7, which can fit five or so people at a stretch.

Executive Rooms have a Nespresso machine, if you’re planning to pull a few late ones while in town.
