State Theatre Centre of WA/Heath Ledger Theatre
The State Theatre Centre is set in a landmark building that took out the 2011 Emil Sodersten Award for Interior Architecture – so the building alone is a must-see. Perth Theatre Company and Black Swan State Theatre Company are both in residence here and the space plays host to a range of performances; to pay homage to one of Australia’s greatest actors, book a show in the Heath Ledger Theatre. The centre is located in the buzzy eat streets of Northbridge so head to any of the nearby restaurants or bars for a bite pre- or post-show. It’s also not a long walk to Chinatown, where you’re always guaranteed a late night seat at Perth institution Uncle Billy’s, known as a post-performance haunt for musicians and high-profile philanthropists.
