Paris' Fine Jewellery Epicentre, Place Vendome
In addition to being crowned the world’s style capital, Paris is also its fine jewellery epicentre, with the most lauded address owing to the Place Vendôme. Window shopping is one thing but don’t be shy, step inside. The snotty sales assistants of yesteryear have been banished by the luxury goods conglomerates that now own most of this famous square’s household names. Along with Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron and Bulgari, you will also find the bijou flagships of the fashion brands that have extended into fine jewellery from Dior to Chanel and most recently Louis Vuitton.
Also of note are the high end vintage jewellery and watch dealers on the streets surrounding Place Vendôme, such as Dary’s on Rue Saint-Honoré, where you may find anything from an Art Deco engagement ring to a Cartier big cat bracelet or diamond tiara.
Location
Housing the Louvre, Jardin des Tuileries, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Place Vendôme, Palais-Royal and perhaps Paris’ most famous style strip rue Saint-Honoré, the 1st arrondissement is situated principally on the Right Bank of the Seine. As one of Paris’ oldest areas it also showcases some of its most spectacular public buildings, hotels, restaurants and gardens.
