If you’d like to try something you can’t get at home (and not be surrounded by tourists following their favourite food blogger), head to this unpretentious trattoria in Testaccio for their signature dish – thick, handmade tonnarelli pasta with chicory and Pecorino Romano. It sounds simple but this is where locals head after a long day of work when they just want to dig into something delicious. There are a few tables outside in summer so book ahead and ask for a spot “fuori”, which means outside.

Location

Testaccio, just over 5km south of Rome Termini station, is a must-visit for foodies and a popular stop on most gourmet Rome tours. The closet Metro station is Piramide.
