This is slightly out of the centre but in a neighborhood most foodies in the world salivate over: Testaccio. Most guidebooks will tell you to go to Flavio Al Velavevodetto but this family-run trattoria serves equally authentic Roman dishes like suppli, which are risotto balls stuffed with buffalo mozzarella, and the atmosphere is cosy and local.  

Location

Testaccio, just over 5km south of Rome Termini station, is a must-visit for foodies and a popular stop on most gourmet Rome tours. The closet Metro station is Piramide.
