“The island of Favignana is a 30-minute hydrofoil ride from Trapani in Sicily and with a couple of hours to kill before boarding we decided to explore the ancient city of Erice, perched high above Trapani. After a fun 10-minute cable-car ride you are deposited at the city gates. Erice has been continuously inhabited through centuries dating back to the Romans. A city built around the temple of Venus, its history is intriguing. Make sure you step away from the crowds for a wander through the quiet cobblestone streets.”
