Sitting proudly on the banks of the River Thames, this historic British hotel is more than 125 years old – but that doesn’t mean it’s behind the times. A three-year, £220 million restoration project was completed in 2010 and, today, The Savoy retains its status as a landmark London hotel. Room décor is unashamedly old-school – Edwardian or Art Deco in style – but incorporates modern additions and discreet technology. There are a wide selection of restaurants and bars, including the famous Savoy Grill, these days overseen by British uber-chef Gordon Ramsay. Families are particularly well looked thanks to children’s bathroom amenities, bathrobes and slippers, in-room games consoles and other goodies. Practical items like strollers, baby cots, bottle warmers, baby bathtub and highchairs are also included.

Location

The Savoy is in Covent Garden, a shopping paradise that’s easy to navigate on foot. It’s close to both the theatre district of the West End and the nightlife of Soho. This particular area of London is a treasure-trove for sightseers. Nearby attractions include Somerset House, Sea Life London Aquarium, the London Eye, the National Theatre, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and iconic Trafalgar Square, which hosts The National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery. Closest underground stations are Charing Cross and Embankment.
