At Four Seasons Cabo San Lucas, Relaxation Is Written in the Stars
“You have to meet my little friend,” says Andrea at the front desk as she shows me a carved figurine of a bird painted the exact same bright yellow as an ear of corn. “This is our canario de la suerte.” The famous fortune-telling birds are found in Mexico’s Pueblos Mágicos – towns that have been recognised for their beauty and mythic qualities.
Four Seasons Cabo San Lucas has been designed just like the most enchanting Pueblo Mágico: the sunlit entrance, perched high on a cliff overlooking the Sea of Cortez, is less hotel lobby and more bustling town square, where, alongside the spa, you’ll find an art gallery and the Mercado for snacks and souvenirs. As you make your way down to the water, the 96 well-appointed rooms – even the mid-level Oceanfront Casitas have indoor and outdoor showers and a walk-in-wardrobe – are arranged around two of the property’s pools.
About a 40-minute drive from the San José Del Cabo Airport, the resort has a serene atmosphere. Every room features ocean views, is decorated with chic sandy-hued linen and warm golden stone and comes with delightful trimmings, including a handwoven straw hat, jars of tajin-dusted dried mango for snacking and a mezcal-forward minibar. The path through the resort is winding and unhurried, lined with agave plants and scented by frangipani trees.
When you make it to the adults-only infinity pool, tucked away at the edge of the property, you’ll be rewarded. Warm baja fish tacos and creamy guacamole are served direct to your private cabana from casual eatery Coraluz, one of seven onsite bars and restaurants, including Palmerio for Mexican-Mediterranean fusion and Sorah Rooftop Bar (above). The poolside cabanas are so spacious, with daybeds and couches, flatscreen television and a much-replenished supply of iced water, you’ll never want to leave. And the uninterrupted ocean views? Simply magical.
