Whether you're desperate for some morning coffee or a way to close out a productive day with a drink, these are the best business dining venues in Silicon Valley. By Joy Yoon.

Coffee pit stop

Chromatic Coffee Co.

Founded in 2012, Chromatic Coffee Co. roasts single-origin and blends sourced from Africa and Central and South America. Chromatic has two cafés in the Bay area and at both you’ll also find a variety of pastries and sweet treats.

Breakfast meeting

Buck’s of Woodside

Silicon Valley loves a “power” meal and it doesn’t get more powerful than this kooky diner serving comfy favourites like pancakes and omelettes. With its fabled history as the breeding ground for many tech giants – PayPal was tested and Tesla Motors founded here – Buck’s of Woodside is a valley institution.

3062 Woodside Road, Woodside

Dining alone

Bird Dog

If you’re looking for a quiet meal, this isn’t the place. With its social and vibrant atmosphere, Bird Dog is where you go to hang out, meet new people and, most importantly, indulge in Japanese-inspired raw fish plates like its aji amarillo crudo or Wagyu.

420 Ramona Street, Palo Alto

Drinks with clients

Haberdasher

Having delicious handcrafted cocktails in an underground speakeasy-style bar with plush banquettes and velvet curtains is a welcome change from the usual drinks at the hotel bar. At Haberdasher, the ice cubes are hand-cut and although there’s a menu, the bartenders tend to take the lead. Let them.

43 West San Salvador Street, San Jose

Business dinner

Manresa

Chef David Kinch takes the “trust me” approach to seasonal tasting menus to extravagant new heights at three-Michelin-starred Manresa. The dishes are always changing but the sea salt vanilla caramels as a parting gift are a constant.
