With its fabled history as the breeding ground for many tech giants – PayPal was tested and Tesla Motors founded here – Buck’s of Woodside is a valley institution.

If you’re looking for a quiet meal, this isn’t the place. With its social and vibrant atmosphere, Bird Dog is where you go to hang out, meet new people and, most importantly, indulge in Japanese-inspired raw fish plates like its aji amarillo crudo or Wagyu.

Having delicious handcrafted cocktails in an underground speakeasy-style bar with plush banquettes and velvet curtains is a welcome change from the usual drinks at the hotel bar. At Haberdasher, the ice cubes are hand-cut and although there’s a menu, the bartenders tend to take the lead. Let them.
