The landmark 1905-built Malibu Pier was given a new lease on life when Malibu Farm, a café focused on healthy and local produce, opened at its furthermost tip. Owned by Helene Henderson, the Scandi-inspired spot serves breakfast and lunch seven days a week and dinner from Wednesday through Sunday. There’s plenty of space inside but when it’s hot and sunny, the outdoor seating wins hands down thanks to unobstructed wraparound views of an ocean filled with surfers, paddleboarders and kayakers. From its fried egg sandwiches to grilled-cheese panini, this spot is a hit with families, a group of friends or for those who need a dose of sea air and a good, healthy meal.

Malibu is best described as a state of mind. Largely defined by the 21-mile stretch of Pacific Ocean, life revolves around the beach. The surrounding hills are home to an affluent community.
