Palihouse West Hollywood – Hotel Review
An homage to its original, the new reincarnation of hotelier Avi Brosh’s Palihouse West Hollywood has plenty of sophisticated design – velvet corduroy-upholstered armchairs and eco-friendly wallpaper featuring a mythical world with snakes, peacocks and leopards – but doesn’t take itself too seriously. A rare pedestrian-friendly stretch of real estate, the Palihouse West Hollywood’s new W. 3rd Street address is great for grabbing a coffee, browsing jewellery or homewares, or lingering over a glass of wine in the neighbourhood. Canyon hikes and art museums aren’t too far away, either.
Where is Palihouse West Hollywood?
The reimagined hotel sits on the corner of S. Orlando Avenue and West 3rd Street in Los Angeles. It’s technically in the Beverly Grove neighbourhood, adjacent to West Hollywood. The central location means relatively easy access to several surrounding areas such as Beverly Hills, Hollywood and Culver City as well.
What’s near Palihouse West Hollywood?
From Joan’s on Third and OK design store to Ginger’s Divine Ice Cream and Son of a Gun, the shops, cafes and bars of famed West 3rd Street are literally down the block. And several cultural attractions – Los Angeles Museum of Art (LACMA), La Brea Tar Pits, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures – are a five-minute drive away.
Room types
The 95 rooms comprise queen, king, double bed and suite configurations, all starting around 330 square feet in size. The Deluxe Queen, Deluxe Double and Deluxe Suites include a sun-drenched balcony. The majority of rooms are equipped with kitchenettes, including retro mini SMEG fridges; meanwhile, bathrooms are decked out with glazed tile and marble showers.
Restaurants and bars
Lobby? Restaurant? Bar? It’s all fluid at the Palihouse West Hollywood. The lobby level cafe-meets-bar serves an all-day menu (think croissants, avocado toast, little gem salad, lobster tacos and more) as well as drinks at happy hour. Take a seat at the marble topped bar or under a striped umbrella on the patio. There’s also Mezzanine Sushi, just above the lobby café, which serves Japanese finger foods and pressed rolls (open evenings Thursday through Saturday only).
Travel for work
While there are no dedicated writing desks or conference areas, most rooms feature long tables for working remotely, along with some space in the quiet, art-filled library off the lobby. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
Gym and pool
The property boasts a quiet outdoor saline pool for soaking up some sun as well as a fitness centre with Peloton bikes.
Accessibility
Along with wide door frames and elevators, the hotel does offer a few accessible rooms with features such as lowered light switches, hearing impaired light alerts, grab bars in the shower with a shower seat or accessible tub.
