Aloft Hotel South Beach Miami
From the all-white art-deco grandeur of Delano to The Villa, with its 24-carat gold- flecked swimming pool, there’s no shortage of obscenely glamorous hotels on Miami’s South Beach. Which is why this Aloft newbie – right on the neighbourhood’s northern tip – is a welcome change.
Its lobby is bright and the ceilings high but none of it’s gaudy. Rooms are smart and spacious, without resorting to over-the-top marble bathrooms. And vibrant bursts of colour – running down a carpet next to its reception, say, or sometimes up the walls in its rooms – are bound to be an Instagram hit.
There’s a pool, too, complete with cabanas and sunbeds but without any gold lining. Sometimes that’s a good thing.
