SLS South Beach
Since opening in 2012, the SLS has become one of the standard bearers of South Beach celebrity chic. Like its sister properties in LA and Las Vegas, the design by Philippe Starck is eclectic and playful, utilizing a full palette of colours and themes. The check-in desk is designed to recall an American summer camp, which is why it features a canoe as a light fitting. Meanwhile, stark (excuse the pun) white rooms are dramatically juxtaposed with pitch-black corridors. Standard rooms here are fairly small but this isn’t a hotel for homebodies – SLS is all about dancing by the pool, eating at one of the superb signature restaurants or lounging in the cabana designed by part-owner Lenny Kravitz.
Location
SoBe for short, South Beach brings Latino sass and sensuality to the puritan shores of the United States. Lined with iconic Art Deco hotels and some of the best restaurants in America, South Beach can be glam or rowdy but it’s never boring.
