Handmade pastas available alfresco and a pulsing old-school hip hop soundtrack: nowhere else in New York can you find such a beautiful blend of graffiti art and classic Italian food. This neighbourhood favourite features a carefully curated menu of small plates (Tuscan chicken liver crostini and, of course, burrata) and tempting large plates (slow-roasted pork shoulder, anyone?). Staying true to its Italian roots, the wine list is where the often-packed and lively Charlie Bird soars but to cap off the night, few choices would surpass — or be more appropriate — than apricot-and-olive-oil cake paired with the gin and chartreuse-based cocktail Last Word.
Location
SoHo (nicknamed for its location south of Houston Street) is one of the trendiest and busiest neighbourhoods in Lower Manhattan, full of art galleries and boutiques and easily accessible by all forms of transportation.
