It’s been more than ten years since the retail outlier opened its doors on an unremarkable street in Southern SoHo, but Opening Ceremony still retains its title as the coolest downtown address, known for its deft collection of cutting-edge, high fashion brands along with cool, affordable street wear and accessories. Here, it’s all about the mix: you’ll find cult zines and affordable accessories alongside high fashion.

The OC’s regular brand collaborations also help to keep things interesting (brand partners run the gamut from actress Chloë Sevigny to Parisian Taxidermist Deyrolle.) The store now encompasses 33 Howard Street (the space next door), which is dedicated to menswear brands such as Acne and Patrick Ervell. The original store has expanded to include a subterranean shoe gallery, kid’s corner, bookshop, and four floors of womenswear.
