C’mon, you didn’t travel all the way to New York to drop in at Starbucks. Choose the real thing. This Pacific Northwest export, located in the Ace Hotel, prides itself on sourcing the best beans in the world – and their dedication shows. A hip hangout, it’s rife with skinny jeans-wearers and plenty of plaid (Stumptown’s origins are Portland, after all) but it still remains refreshingly unpretentious. Summer calls for the unrivalled cold brew, winter delivers Instagrammable lattes but it’s the fancy, glorified pop-tart treats that are every-season appropriate. To linger, take your drink to the hotel lobby and grab one of the comfy couches; thanks to the free wi-fi, you’ll probably be seated next to a start-up CEO or freelancer who calls this place his or her second home.

Location

The Flatiron District, named for the iconic skyscraper on 5th Avenue, provides both a cross-section of Manhattan (office buildings and public transport abound) and a respite from the hustle and bustle, care of the gorgeous Madison Square Park.
