Take a Walk Along The High Line
Stroll above the city at this untraditional park in the sky, stretching from the downtown Meatpacking District all the way to (depending how far you want your feet to travel) the most recently opened 34th Street section. The former elevated railway line next to the Hudson River is ideal for sunny afternoons observing public art huddled amongst wildflowers, grasses and sunbathers. As you walk, stop at the L’Arte del Gelato cart for a scoop or two. For a romantic nighttime activity, there’s stargazing on Tuesdays (April through October) and, for the kiddies, check out “Lawn Time for the Little Ones” with storytelling and sing-alongs on Thursday mornings in July and August.
Location
The High Line spans many neighbourhoods on the west side, from the Meatpacking District (a nightlife hotspot) to Chelsea (art galleries galore) to Midtown.
