Cerro Santa Lucia
A green hill rising conspicuously in the middle of Santiago provides the perfect photo opportunity to capture the city and its snow-capped mountain backdrop. Cerro Santa Lucia (Santa Lucia Hill) has been an important site since a Spanish missionary stood on the hill to declare Santiago a city in 1541. Today, it’s a peaceful place to wander (with the exception of the daily midday cannon) and admire the gardens, fountains, statues and the outlook.
