Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort – Hotel Review
Boasting a tranquil adults-only pool overlooking the Pacific, a swim-up bar that wouldn’t look out of place on a chic Greek island and spacious rooms with envy-inducing furniture, few words accurately describe the experience of staying at newly refurbed Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort. One springs to mind, however: heaven. Read on for the full review.
The glittering Pacific Ocean punctuates almost every part of your stay here. If you can’t see it glistening back at you from the comfort of your room’s adjoining patio or balcony, you can certainly hear it gently lapping at the sandy shore of the resort’s private beach. It’s a welcome reminder that you’re very far from home — in the best way possible.
Where is Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort?
Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort is set among the swaying palms and pristine beaches of Fiji’s Denarau Island, an exclusive resort island located just off of the west coast of mainland Fiji and connected by a short causeway. Nadi International Airport is roughly a 20-minute drive away.
What’s Near Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort?
If you’ve come here for the golf, you’ll be pleased to know that Denarau Golf and Racquet Club is just a three minute stroll. Travelling with children? Big Bula Waterpark is only eight minutes away on foot. For those looking to explore the wider island, Port Denarau Marina is a five-minute taxi (or short Bula Bus ride) trip and offers further shopping and dining options, as well as sea transfers to neighbouring islands Mamanucas and Yasawas.

Rooms have a paired back, beach-tinged elegance to them; think light and bright with mid-century furnishings you’ll wish you had at home. There’s also the occasional hibiscus flower offering a pop of colour to the otherwise neutral palette. All rooms feature either a private balcony or patio, which is all the more welcome in Ocean View and Ocean Front rooms, which, as the names suggest, offer water views. The Ocean Front Studio, or Larger Studio, with its open layout, freestanding tub and uninterrupted sea views, is the perfect choice for couples. (Or, the opulent 148-sqm Presidential Suite, if you’re honeymooning, that will have you happily playing house with its generous living areas.)
With all rooms, expect rainfall showerheads, super-comfy featherbeds and intuitive temperature control that self adjusts when you enter the room.
Restaurants and bars
There is a deli serving coffee and two à la carte restaurants on-site; Island 619 overlooks the pool and specialises in freshly caught seafood, locally grown produce and a high-energy atmosphere thanks to its open kitchen. The other is Tatavu Grill & Bar, a laid-back spot with a beach-club feel, where diners can take in the view of Nadi Bay while noshing on hearty steaks paired with light salads.
Guests at the Sheraton are also allowed access to sister sites The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa and Sheraton Denarau Villas, opening up a further 14 different dining options. (Of course, you could always just make use of the 24-hour room service and eat in the comfort of your own breezy outdoor area instead.)
Travel for work
Although the Presidential Suite is the only room with a designated workspace, the others have coffee tables that could double as a desk at a push. You might be more comfortable downstairs at 28g, though. The wi-fi is free and fast and they do an excellent long black. Elsewhere in the hotel, there’s a business centre, suit-pressing services and event and meeting spaces for hire.
Pool, gym and spa
The expansive palm-tree-lined lagoon that shoulders the shoreline is pure heaven (not to mention the ocean itself). The gym is open 24/7 and features the standard issue of free weights, as well as elliptical and cardio machines. Plus, paddleboard, kayak and snorkel hire is available (for a fee) if you prefer to do your exercise alfresco.
The Westin Heavenly Spa (a short 400-metre hop next door), purported to be the largest in Fiji, ordinarily offers an array of Ayurvedic treatments including body scrubs, massages and a plunge pool. However, as it’s currently undergoing renovations at the time of writing, a temporary spa has been set up in its place with a reduced treatment list.
What you need to know
The resort is fully accessible; the main entrance, gym and pool are all wheelchair friendly, while every room features lowered electrical outlets, grab rails in the bathroom and lowered deadbolts on doors.
