You Can Book These International Flights Right Now
At long last, international travel is back on the horizon, with Qantas announcing that overseas flights are expected to resume near the end of December. Here’s everything you need to know about booking international flights from Australia right now.
It’s been a long time coming and avid travellers have waited with bated breath to find out when and where they might be able to fly once the Australian Government reopens the international border. Luckily, the wait is shorter than you might think.
Qantas has just opened bookings for a range of international flights, revealing when the first planes can be expected to leave Australian shores in November, December and January.

“The pace of the vaccine rollout means we’re still on track for international flying to restart,” said Qantas Group CEO Alan Joyce. “People are clearly keen to travel. We saw a 175 per cent spike in web searches in the week after we announced our plans and we’ve seen strong bookings for December and January for our flights to London, Los Angeles and Singapore in particular.”
To help encourage a higher rate of vaccination, Qantas launched its Been Vaccinated? Be Rewarded program and competition at the end of August. All eligible participants can choose from a range of perks – including Qantas Points or a flight voucher – while eight lucky Australians will win a year’s worth of flights, hotel stays and fuel.
Fly flexible
If you’re planning on booking flights but aren’t too sure about future plans, Qantas is offering flexible bookings on all international flights booked before 28 February 2022 for international travel until 31 December 2022. A fare difference may apply.
For eligible bookings, Qantas allows you to change your travel plans without incurring additional fees, as long as the new dates are within 12 months of your original booking. If you choose not to rebook, you are also eligible to receive a flight credit that can be used at a later date.
