Fratelli Fresh to Open in Melbourne
Sydneysiders have been wolfing down fresh, rustic Italian food at Fratelli Fresh outposts from the Rocks to Alexandria for more than a decade. Now the popular eatery-cum-providore is adding a southern brother to its family of six. Fratelli @ The Alfred, the first interstate incarnation, will open in Melbourne’s The Alfred dining and entertainment precinct in June. It will, like its Sydney siblings, be a casual restaurant serving simple, delicious Italian. Victorians can expect Fratelli classics, including woodfired pizzas and house-made pastas, as well as some special new dishes just for them.
The chain, first opened by brothers Jamie and Barry McDonald on Danks St in Waterloo, has recently been sold to the Urban Purveyor Group, which also owns the Bavarian Bier Café and Sake chains. The company says it intends to open another Sydney restaurant, Stella Ristorante & Terrazzo, in the CBD in September, and will roll out a chain of pizzerias and more eat-in restaurants across the country in coming years.
WHEN: Opens June
