It’s three times the size of England
At around 424,000 square kilometres, this swathe of north-eastern Australia dwarfs England, which only covers a diminutive 130,000 square kilometres of land. The Kimberley region stretches from the Great Sandy Desert through to the Timor Sea, and from Western Australia’s coastline to the Northern Territory border. Despite its impressive breadth, it’s one of the most remote, untouched areas of the country – just 50,000 people call it home.
