The food: Shaun Presland (ex-Saké, Sydney) and Korean-born K. S. Moon are at the helm of The Lucas Group’s Japanese restaurant, which has a focus on seafood. Splash out on King Island lobster and hand-farmed oysters.
The drinks: An expansive menu of Australian and international wines, with the discrete Chablis Bar stocking up to 80 chardonnays from the French region.
The atmosphere: An art gallery vibe, courtesy of long, lean dining rooms and photographic art on the walls.
The location: Melbourne CBD, a few minutes’ walk from the Regent Theatre.

The food: Raw seafood – poke bowls for lunch and kingfish crudo for dinner – abounds at this Hawaiian restaurant, named after an idyllic coastal town on the island of Maui. Mario Manabe, former sous chef to Curtis Stone, is in charge of the kitchen.
The drinks: Eight cocktails (with names inspired by Hawaiian beaches) and about 15 Australian and French wines by the glass.
The atmosphere: A relaxed vibe with aged-brass interiors, bamboo aplenty and black mirrors.
The location: On the site of the former Hairy Canary restaurant in the heart of the city.

The Grounds of the City
The food: One of Sydney’s most popular dining destinations, The Grounds of Alexandria is coming to the CBD with a menu of coffee, cakes and pastries, plus lunch and dinner inspired by the New York brasseries of the Roaring Twenties.
The drinks: About 15 Australian and New Zealand wines by producers such as Clonakilla, Brokenwood and Two Paddocks.
The atmosphere: Relaxed 1920s-brasserie-style space with Art Deco interiors and lots of wood.
The location: The Galeries shopping complex, in the centre of the city.
