An Island Dedicated to Wine Pops Up in Sydney Harbour

Wine Island returns to Clark Island in glittering Sydney Harbour on November 1-3, promising a well-spent weekend of wine-tasting, cocktail-sipping and cheese-platter-sampling.

Taking over the Sydney Harbour National Park islet for its fifth year, the popular springtime event invites oenophiles to revel in premium plonk, local produce and uninterrupted harbour views. Australian and topnotch international wines will be showcased amid brightly coloured parasols. The island will also host beer-brewers and spirit-distillers, including the recent recipient of a Double Gold medal at last year’s San Francisco World Spirit Awards, Manly Spirits.

There’s also an assortment of sustenance to pair with your wine. A pop-up outpost of slider star Chur Burger will reside on the shores for the weekend, as will N2 Gelato and a seafood bar – the perfect accompaniment for fresh drops in the sun.

In addition to the impressive array of beverages and food, the weekend also includes a tempting selection of masterclasses, so attendees can take a taste of the island festivities home. There’s an espresso martini shaking session, a gin botanicals pairing lesson, and several sip-heavy lessons on the shades of rosé and the new way to drink red (chilled, don’t you know?).

There are three ticket types and each denotes the inclusions for the day, ranging from meal vouchers to access to your own floating island, The Hamptons, for those who opt for the premium Hamptons package. All attendees will receive a spritz to sip on the ferry ride to the island, as well as access to masterclasses and some tastings.

Tickets for Wine Island are available from midday on Friday, August 9.
