Brisbane Airport and the new Qantas Facial Recognition app

Qantas’ trial of facial recognition partnered with Brisbane Airport and SITA has now ended.

Through the course of the trial over 1500 customers registered to use their face as a boarding pass to enter the lounge and board their flights. More than 150 flights departed with customers using facial recognition technology at the boarding gate.

Thanks to the all of the volunteers who participated in the trial and Qantas will be using their feedback to shape the future airport experience.

Sydney Airport and Qantas facial recognition trial

Qantas’ trial of facial recognition partnered with Sydney Airport has closed.

Through the course of the trial more than 4000 customers registered to use their face as a boarding pass to enter the lounge and board their flights. More than 200 flights departed with customers using facial recognition technology at the boarding gate.

Thanks to the all of the volunteers who participated in the trial and Qantas will be using their feedback to shape the future airport experience.

Los Angeles Airport trial

Airport departures sign LAX

We’ve partnered with LAWA and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to trial an integrated customs and boarding solution at Los Angeles World Airports. You won’t need your passport or boarding pass at the gate on selected flights. Instead, you’ll be boarded using information U.S Customs and Border Protection captured when you entered America.

Important information

At Sydney International Airport facial recognition is being trialled from 21 June 2018 to 11 December 2018 on selected flights. The trial is not available on all flights or all days and is available for customers who meet the booking and eligibility criteria.

At Brisbane International Airport facial recognition is being trialled from 12 September 2018 to 11 December 2018 on selected flights. The trial is not available on all flights or all days and is available for customers who meet the booking and eligibility criteria.
