When to visit

The best time to visit Miami is in spring, from about mid-February through to May. The weather is warm, fewer crowds and the hurricane season hasn’t started yet. The water is warm, so you'll be able to enjoy the sandy beaches and rooftop happy hours. Temperatures in spring range between 24°C and 27°C. Summer is hot and humid, though plenty of sunshine and daily highs of 31°C, with some short storms lasting around 15 minutes. June through the end of November is hurricane season in Florida, so be prepared, though still a busy time to visit.

The staff at Miami Airport will greet you when you land and assist you with your needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are various transport options available to get you on your way.

Getting into Miami from Miami Airport 

Getting into Miami from the airport is easy with various transport options available. Choose from public transport, taxis, app-based ride services, hotel shuttles or car hire. Public transport is an affordable and convenient choice to avoid parking and traffic. You need an Easy card to ride on public transport that can be bought at Miami Station. The MetroRil train is a stress-free option with trains departing every 30 minutes, travelling to the city centre. Take the orange line and the trip takes just 15 minutes. The Tri-Rail is rail system which joints MIA Airport with northern Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Broward counties. You need to take the MIA mover to get to the Tri-Rail. By the Miami Beach Airport Express Bus 150, you can transfer from MIA Airport to Miami Beach safe and sound. The travel time is around 60 minutes, or you can take the Miami Airport Metrobus with several routes along Miami Dade area, with regular services. Taxi is a quick way to downtown and Miami Beach taking around 15 minutes. If you choose to rent a car, its best to pre-book in advance. Get to your rental car fast by using the free MIA Mover located on the 3rd level, alternatively you might like to request a car with Uber or Lyft to get to your destination.

Getting around Miami

Planning to spend some time in Miami? There are plenty of options for getting around the city and beyond. Traffic and parking in Miami can be a hassle, so it’s best to use public transport or ride-share services. The metro bus system covers many popular routes and is a cheap way to get around. The MetroRail and Metromover train are convenient options to skip the traffic, with regular services and good options to reach downtown Miami. The Tri-Rail system connects West Palm Beach to suburban Miami at the Metrorail station. Both Lyft and Uber operate throughout Miami, or you can call a taxi. Alternatively, you may wish to join a tour to see the sights.
