Paddle the gorges, NT
Fun fact: 13 different gorges make up the Nitmiluk Gorge, the labyrinthine waterway about 300 kilometres south-east of Darwin carved through sandstone cliffs over countless years by the Katherine River. Even more fun fact: they’re best explored from the water by canoe. Operators such as Nitmiluk Tours offer half-day to overnight trips on the 16-kilometre-long maze of canyons, between June and November.
