A half-hour drive inland through eucalypt forests and rolling farmlands, Bago Vineyards manages to be both romantic in flavour – with its lawns shaded by jacaranda trees overlooking the vines – and family friendly, thanks to its 10,000-square-metre hedge maze in which to (temporarily) mislay the kids.

There are occasional jazz performances on Sundays and renowned local Comboyne cheeses to peck at while enjoying the wines. The country setting makes it a good place to while away the day with a picnic or just relax with the family and let the kids loose. Open daily 9.30am-4pm.
