Located in the hinterland, a 10-minute drive from Port Macquarie, this is a one-stop shop for encountering native wildlife and for seeing some surprising overseas inclusions like red pandas, meerkats, snow leopards and cheetahs at Billabong Zoo – a 10 acre koala and wildlife park. Children can feed the kangaroos in a walk-through grassed enclosure, listen to educational talks on dingoes, crocodiles, spider monkeys and meerkats by Zoo keepers and pat an adorable ball of grey fur in the koala breeding centre. Pace the day by retreating to the Billabong Café for strategic coffees and lunch. The park is open daily (except Christmas Day) from 9am-5pm.
