There is something nicely understated about Port Macquarie’s finer restaurants, which exhibit big-city quality with none of the attendant showiness. The Stunned Mullet is the prime example of this – set inside an unprepossessing shop front and behind Town Beach, close to the Observatory Hotel, it is slickly designed and delivers delicious, Asian-accented fare and an excellent range of wines from around the world. Owned by Canadian Lou Perri and with executive chef David Henry at the helm, this is a bright and vibrantly social restaurant serving impeccable dishes such as pork belly and seared scallops with nuoc cham and Asian salad. Open lunch and dinner daily.
