Brought to you by the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia

Park yourself in the centre of a rainbow this summer.

The Museum of Contemporary Art is opening the Colour Fields pop-up bar on 3 November, inspired by and tied to the Pipilotti Rist: Sip my Ocean exhibition from 1 November 2017 to 18 February 2018.

The hugely immersive exhibition from the Swiss artist, Pipilotti Rist, will take over the third floor of the MCA, featuring audiovisual installations, video projections and light displays.

The bar will emulate the exhibition’s vibrancy and inject a serious burst of colour into the Circular Quay foreshore once set up on the museum’s ground-floor terrace.

There’ll be a colourful cocktail menu (for a summer tipple more exciting than your regular G and T) plus small bites and sharing boards and you’ll also have the chance to take part in creative workshops when the bar is open late on Wednesday nights. The Sydney arm of Australian collective The Work-Shop will run several masterclasses at Colour Fields over the summer, including DIY perfume-making, rosé appreciation lessons and craft sessions.

But if crafting isn’t your thing, the museum has teamed up with Future Classic to ensure that there’s a free DJ set every Sunday afternoon with Australian DJs such as Andy Garvey and Le Fruit. Throughout the week, the bar will play mixtapes handpicked by the DJs on rotation, too.

Kick Back This Summer at the MCA Pop-up Bar in Sydney

This is the third summer pop-up bar the museum has created to highlight a headline exhibition of the Sydney International Art Series, following on from the Gin Garden and Grayson Perry: My Pretty Little Art Career in 2015 and the Cherry Blossom Bar and Tatsuo Miyajima: Connect with Everything in 2016.

Colour Fields will be open from 3 November from 4pm Wednesday to Sunday.
