Nicky Zimmermann's Guide to New York
Their largest store in the world is on Soho’s stylish Mercer Street and they’ve had a regular spot on the New York Fashion Week roster since 2013. Work might take the Zimmermann sisters to the City that Never Sleeps, but here, creative director Nicky Zimmermann shares the stylish spots she and sister Simone frequent when they’re off-duty…
Most Stylish Hotel: The Greenwich Hotel
“Recently I’ve been staying at The Greenwich Hotel (pictured) in Tribeca. It is in such a convenient downtown location where I can easily pop into Soho and shop and visit our store. I can also visit friends nearby in the West Village or travel uptown more quickly than if I’m staying in Soho by shooting up the West Side Highway. The hotel itself is gorgeous – with a relaxed feel and great food, the bar and courtyard area is really beautiful in summer. It’s like a little oasis in the city.”

Best Places to Shop
“I cannot leave NY without a pit stop at Barneys. They have an amazing representation of international designers. I also love Soho, there is such a great mix of stores and when you need a break there is The Mercer Hotel for a delicious snack! On a Saturday I do Forte Greene markets and Artists & Fleas in Brooklyn. I will then usually hang around Brooklyn for the day. There is great food on offer and my favourite jewellery store, Catbird.”
Best Places to Refuel
“For brunch, Sant Ambroeus is one of my favourites, right on Lafayette – it’s perfect before you hit the shops of Soho and has an understated, downtown feel. If I’m uptown, I love to dropping in to Fred’s at Barneys for a late lunch – they have an amazing roasted chicken salad their Bloody Mary is one of the best in town. Right now, it’s winter, and I’m loving The Polo Bar and Carbone for a weeknight dinner. If I’m still in the city on a Sunday, I like to unwind at Nobu – the miso cod is everyone’s favourite.”

Best Bars
“For a drink after work, Soho House is great. Sit near the fire in the winter or the roof in the summer. I also am looking forward this trip to our after-show drinks at Smith & Mills in Tribeca – it’s a local hidden gem across the road from The Greenwich Hotel.”
Between Shows...
“Visit the Met, and then go for a walk through Central Park (pictured), in summer or winter. For work I’m mostly in downtown, in our showroom or in our studio space we use during the show season, but when I have some time, that’s what I enjoy.”
Zimmermann’s New York Fall 2016 show will take place at ArtBeam Studio in Chelsea at 12pm on Friday, February 12.
