Things that go bump in the night, Perth
On the eve of Halloween, Stormie Mills’ new exhibition Things That Go Bump in the Night opens at There Is… gallery in Perth. Evolving from his interest in horror comics, Stormie Mills delves into the themes of iconography, costumes, monsters and commonality in this thought-provoking exhibition. Things That Go Bump in the Night runs from October 30 to November 8.
Sydney Zombie Walk, Sydney
In partnership with Australia’s Brain Foundation, the Sydney Zombie Walk will be taking to the Sydney CBD on October 31. Beginning in Hyde Park at 3pm, the walk will help to raise funds and awareness for the Brain Foundation. If you’re unsure how to create make-up gore, the Brain Foundation recommends red food dye in chocolate sauce for “surprisingly fantastic blood”.
Spooktober, Melbourne
Taking up residence in St Kilda Town Hall, Count Carlisle’s Manor will come alive on Halloween with bewitching amusements for those aged six and above. Spooktober will also host the ultimate trick or treat, as well as food trucks, rides and, of course, the haunted manor as part of the spectacle. And for the truly brave at heart, those 18 years and older may enter one of Australia’s oldest asylums at midnight for the first time since its closure in 1895.
Lithgow Halloween 15, Lithgow
This year’s ghoulish creatures will show their faces in Lithgow’s main shopping strip, as Lithgow City Council transforms the area into a family friendly “night of ghoulish glee” for Halloween. Everything from spectacular lighting displays, live entertainment, decorations and monsters will be on show. The evening will also have dining options for every budget and enjoyable market stalls selling local produce.
Movie World Fright Nights, Gold Coast
Head to Movie World this Halloween to enter a maze that promises blockbuster-style frights guaranteed to make even the fearless shudder. From the moment the maze is entered, murderers, zombies or crazy doctors are on the trail. Turning back isn’t an option, no matter what is ahead.
