Melbourne’s Newest Rooftop Cinema

The newly opened Lido Cinemas – in the heart of Melbourne’s Hawthorn neighbourhood – is celebrating the arrival of longer days and balmy nights with the launch of its new rooftop cinema, Lido on the Roof.

Yes, Melbourne has plenty of rooftop cinemas, but the point of difference here is: while others mostly stick to cult and classic screenings, Lido will be leading the charge with new flicks. Its premiere summer season, for instance, will kick off with the highly anticipated James Bond film Spectre on November 12.

Other highlights include the much-awaited Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.

The biggest drawcard here, however, is the view of the Hawthorn and Kew neighbourhoods as well as the CBD in the distance. Moviegoers won’t have to compromise on quality either, with a state-of-the-art Dolby screen, cosy beanbags and deckchairs.

To keep those hunger pangs at bay, there will be a selection of toasted sandwiches and dumplings, as well as classic cinema fare of choc-tops and popcorn. A selection of Victorian craft beers and wines will also be available.

Lido on the Roof will run from the November 12 until April 2016. Tickets on sale now.
