John F. Kennedy International Airport, also known as JFK, is the main airport serving New York City.  It's located 25 km (16 miles) from the city centre.

There are no ticketing facilities available. Contact Qantas within North America for assistance.

Check-in

Check-in counters and bag drop are located on the upper level. Check-in opens four hours before departure, and closes one hour before scheduled flight departure.

Online check-in is available for Qantas international flights (QF1-199), and other eligible connecting flights operated by oneworld, partner and codeshare airlines. Online check-in opens from 24 hours to two hours before departure for international flights.

If you're travelling on a Qantas codeshare or partner flight, check in with the operating airline.

Arrivals

All customers arriving at JFK Airport need to collect their baggage and clear customs and immigration, regardless of their final destination. 

Baggage

Baggage is available on the arrivals level and information monitors display carousel numbers.

Baggage services are handled by Hallmark, and the counter is located on the lower level.

As a reminder, any liquids over 3oz (100ml) including duty free purchases must be secured in checked luggage before clearing TSA security in JFK for any onward flights. 

Between terminals

Free transfers are available between terminals on the AirTrain Services operate regularly.

Qantas international arrivals to USA domestic connections

Claim your baggage at the applicable carousel. If your onward flight is operated by American Airlines, proceed to the departures level, where you can re-check your bags. If you're travelling with another airline, check the terminal guide for information.

USA domestic connections to Qantas international departures

Make your way to the departures level at Terminal 8.

If your baggage has been checked through to your final Qantas destination, and you have a boarding pass, continue through security to the departure gate.

If you need to check you baggage, or you don't have a boarding pass, proceed to the check-in area.

International arrivals to Qantas international departures

Clear arrival immigration and customs procedures and proceed to the departures level at Terminal 8 for check-in and bag drop.

Car The airport is approximately a 60 minute drive from the city.

Fares to other locations including Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island are metered. Private car services are also available and can be pre-booked.

Train The Airtrain departs regularly to Jamaica Station where connections are available to the New York City Subway system. Visit JFK Airport for current fares and timetables.
Travel on the 'E' line to Manhattan - journey time from Jamaica Station is approximately one hour.
Travel on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) to Manhattan - journey time is approximately 30 minutes from Jamaica Station.
