Flight Credits

 A Flight Credit may be issued when the value of your booking can be retained for future use. Below we outline the Flight Credit conditions and how to use it.

Do you have a Flight Credit for a booking from COVID-19 (bookings made on or before 30 September 2021)? Call us to request a refund of your COVID-19 Flight Credit at any time on 1300 668 885 within Australia or +61 2 9123 7495 from outside Australia.

About your Flight Credit

Different conditions will apply to your Flight Credit depending on when your original booking was made and why the Flight Credit was issued.

Flight Credits requested by you

We've made Flight Credits more flexible. Flight Credits requested by you (new and existing) can now used for multiple bookings.

When you cancel a booking, either online through Manage booking or by contacting your local Qantas office, you may be offered a Qantas Flight Credit.

  Flight Credits issued for bookings made from 1 October 2021
Can Flight Credits be used for multiple bookings? Yes, included - Flight Credits requested by you can now be used for multiple bookings provided there is credit remaining and it’s still valid.
When using my Flight Credit, can I book a fare lower than my original fare? Yes, included - You can now use Flight Credits requested by you for multiple bookings. You’ll receive a new Flight Credit with any remaining value. 
When will my Flight Credit expire? You must book and travel within 12 months of your original booking date. If you don’t use your Flight Credit before the expiry date, the Flight Credit value will be forfeited unless the original fare rules permitted a refund, and your refund request was submitted prior to the expiry date.
If my Flight Credit includes other people, can we travel separately? Yes, included  - contact your local Qantas office if all passengers no longer wish to travel together.
Can my new flights depart from a different country than my original booking? Yes, included  - Contact your local Qantas office to make the booking.
Can I use my Flight Credit for Multi-city and Jetstar bookings? Yes, included - contact your local Qantas office to make the booking.
Can I use my Flight Credit for Round the world or Points Plus Pay bookings? No, not included
Can I transfer my Flight Credit to someone else? No, not included
Which cancellation conditions apply to bookings made with my Flight Credit? The cancellation conditions of the original booking will apply for bookings made with your Flight Credit; refer to the fare rules of your original booking. If your original fare rules permitted a refund, you’ll need to request a refund before using your Flight Credit and before the expiry date.
Which fare rules apply for bookings made with my Flight Credit? Once you commence using your Flight Credit, the fare rules from your original booking no longer apply, except the cancellation conditions (see above).

Are there any fees?

There are no fees associated with obtaining your Flight Credit. However, any fees that applied to your original booking will apply at time of redeeming your Flight Credit, unless they have been waived. For example, if you purchased a Red e-Deal or sale fare, the change fee will be charged when you first redeem your Flight Credit. Make sure you check the fare rules of your original booking to find out what fees will apply when you redeem your Flight Credit. If you're unable to use your Flight Credit online and you redeem your Flight Credit through your local Qantas Office, the change booking fee usually charged for assisted bookings will be waived.

How to redeem a Qantas Flight Credit on qantas.com

When you're ready to redeem your Flight Credit, enter the credit reference and your last name below. Once your Flight Credit information is displayed, click on the Find Flights button to book your flights. 

Only fares you can book with your Flight Credit will be shown when redeeming it.  

Your Flight Credit reference is six characters and is a mix of letters and numbers. In most cases, this reference is the same as your original booking reference.

Using multiple Flight Credits for one booking

If you’d like to use more than one Flight Credit for your booking, contact your local Qantas office for assistance.


 

You may also redeem your Flight Credit by:

It’s not possible to use a Flight Credit to pay, or partially pay, for a new booking created outside of the above options, such as via the flight search page or the Qantas app.  

You may not be able to retrieve or use your Flight Credit online if:

  • Your Flight Credit is no longer valid for rebooking.
  • It no longer exists because you have been issued with an alternative (eg Qantas Pass), you had commenced travel on your original booking and your ticket is partially flown, or if you did not show up for your original booking. If you haven't received a Flight Credit confirmation email, you'll need to contact us to use your Flight Credit. When calling, have your original booking reference handy.
  • Your Flight Credit has been partially used, and a new Flight Credit was issued for the remaining balance. Refer to your new Flight Credit confirmation email for the new reference number.
  • You're trying to view your Flight Credit on the Qantas app. You'll need to access it either on your desktop or mobile device.
Frequent Flyer icon

If your Flight Credit isn't displayed in your Frequent Flyer or Qantas Business Rewards bookings or credit list, and the credit hasn't been converted to a Qantas Pass, you can retrieve your credit by entering your Flight Credit reference and last name above. Ensure you add your Frequent Flyer or Qantas Business Rewards details into any new bookings you make using your credit value.

Requesting a Flight Credit

When cancelling your booking online, you may be presented with the option to request a Flight Credit.

Ancillary products

Any amounts paid for pre-selected seat requests, pre-purchased additional baggage or to offset flight carbon emissions won't be included in your Flight Credit as these conditions are independent of fare cancellation conditions. To see if you can apply for a refund, refer to the applicable terms and conditions for more information.

If your booking includes a car or hotel reservation, or travel insurance purchased when booked with your flight, contact these providers directly for assistance with your booking.
