Places to stay
Compact and highly walkable, you can base yourself just about anywhere in Frankfurt. Travelling for business? Stay in Innenstadt, a shopping hub where hotels, like Jumeirah Frankfurt, have set the standard for the city's corporate-luxe vibe. Full of apple wine pubs and historical half-timbered houses, Alt Sachsenhausen is a cosy area which is perfect for those wanting a homey stay. For that "new old town" feel the city has mastered, stay along the leafy banks of the River Main where grand hotels, like Villa Kennedy, blend majestic facades with modern features.
The red-light district of Bahnhofsviertel is Frankfurt's red-hot neighbourhood. The area has progressed a lot with some of the city's coolest clubs, restaurants and boutique hotels popping up there. The jet-set crowd love to stay at the swanky hotel, Roomers. 25hours offers two unique hotels in Frankfurt, The Goldman and The Trip which are both nicely designed while still budget-friendly.
Things to do
Whether you're in town for business or pleasure, Frankfurt has plenty to do. Get your morning buzz from Café No.48, then head to Café Maingold, a Baroque-style spot that serves up organic, homey food. From here, take a stroll along the Main River which is lined with trees and some of the city's best museums. Stop in at the Städel, Germany's oldest museum foundation, and see its extensive collection of European art.
If it's warm out, embrace the great outdoors by finding a sunny spot in the Palmengarten, one of Frankfurt’s favourite botanical gardens. For a boss picnic, pick up some produce at Kleinmarkthalle, a market hall with over 60 fresh food stalls. Make sure you stop in on the market on a Saturday, when you can enjoy a glass of wine and some live music with the locals. Another popular Saturday activity is trawling through the stalls at the city's biggest flea market, Frankfurter Flohmarkt.
For dinner, try the signature dishes at Chairs, or the tucked-away Club Michel, which hosts rotating themed dinners. End the night at Amp, a trendy bar that hosts local and visiting DJs. In the mood for a late-night snack? Hit the Best Worscht in Town for some currywurst before bed.

Heidelberg, a historical town with romantic, sweeping views and hilltop castle ruins is about an hour south of the city. Wine enthusiasts should visit the nearby Rheingau wine region. While famous for its Riesling grapes, the hillside district of Rüdesheim is an excellent outpost for Pinot.
Getting around
From the airport: the easiest way to get into the city centre is by train. The S-Bahn and RMV regional trains depart from the regional station at Terminal 1. The S-Bahn commuter lines S8 and S9 run between the airport and the city centre. Intercity trains depart from the Fernbahnhof at the AIRail Terminal. You can also get into town using a taxi or ride share.
In and around the city: Frankfurt has an excellent transport system, the RMV network integrates all bus, tram, S-Bahn commuter rail and U-Bahn metro lines.
