World Children’s Day with UNICEF – giving children a say on something big – their future.
World Children’s Day is celebrated every year on 20 November. It is the anniversary of the ratification of the most widely signed treaty in history – the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
For nearly 30 years, Qantas and UNICEF have been collecting left over currency from customers on-board flights as part of the Change for Good program to help vulnerable and disadvantaged children. To date, Qantas passengers have raised over $36 million, averaging $1.4 million a year.
The money raised from the Change for Good program can:
- Ensure 32 million children protected from diseases, or
- Provide 60 million children with education, or
- Save the lives of 679,000 malnourished children.
This year, UNICEF is turning World Children’s Day into #WorldChildrensSay – asking children what they want for the future.
How can you support the day?
- Join the conversation and ask the children in your life how they’d change the world with #worldchildrensay.
- Donate your spare change when travelling onboard Qantas.
- Donate left over currency using the Qantas Money App.
- Redeem Qantas points on Qantas Store.
