There's something magical about Paris in the early hours. Start your day the traditional way with a flakey croissant straight from the oven at Blé Sucré. Pastry in hand, head to the Louvre to see if you can squeeze in an early tour. If you’re in Paris on the weekend, unearth hidden treasures at Marché aux Puces de St-Ouen, which is thought to be the world's biggest flea market. Enjoy Paris’ fine dining over a long lunch. Restaurant Frenchie offers one of the most affordable midday tasting menus in town.
Head to Centre Commercial for sustainable fashion brands or stock up on some cult beauty products. For a sweet treat, visit Pierre Hermé, where you’ll find macarons and pastries to munch on. Start your evening with a glass of wine or champagne. Septime la Cave is an intimate wine bar pouring mostly natural wines from all over Europe. No trip would be complete without dining out at a classic French bistro. A lavish place to devour steak-frites is La Bourse et la Vie. For a late-night drink or dance, Glass is a great end to your night.

Day trips
Paris is the perfect starting point for a jaunt around France. The extravagant palace Versailles is a must-see and only a short train ride away. For wine lovers and history buffs, driving two hours southwest of Paris will take you to the heart of the Loire Valley. Peer into Claude Monet’s world by visiting his home in Giverny, less than an hour from the city by train or car.
Getting around
From the airport: Charles de-Gaulle International Airport (CDG) and Paris-Orly Airport (ORY) are connected to the city by train, bus, rental car, taxi or shuttle. RER trains take approximately 40 minutes to reach the first major train station in Paris, Gare du Nord.
In and around the city: the Metro is a cheap and convenient way to explore Paris. Go at your own pace and discover Paris on foot or rent a bicycle. You can also hire a car to explore the city, then hit the motorway to see the magnificent French countryside, from the spectacular villages of Provence to the vineyards of Bordeaux and sweeping coastline of the Côte d’Azur.
