When to visit

A popular entertainment hub, Orlando attracts many visitors throughout the year. The best time to go to Orlando to beat the heat is November to December, as the city comes alive for the holiday season. Be sure to see Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks and the dazzling lights. The days are dry with temperatures ranging around 23°C. October is another popular time to visit as there are plenty of Halloween events taking place in town and temperatures are a little cooler than in summertime. September is busy, hot, humid around 27°C with some hurricanes. The best time to visit is spring (March to May), as the days are dry, less humid, plenty of sunshine and an average temperature around 21°C.

Orlando International Airport (MCO). The airport is located 10 km southeast of Downtown Orlando, Florida.

Arriving in Orlando

The staff at Orlando will greet you when you land and assist with your needs. Once you collect your bags from the arrivals area, there are various transport options available to get you on your way.

Getting into Orlando from Orlando Airport

Getting into Orlando from the airport is easy with various transport options available. Choose from public transport, taxis, app-based ride services, hotel shuttle, ride share rental cars or shuttle vans. Located on the A-side of the terminals on the ground transportation level are local buses running to Downtown Orlando, Florida Mall, SeaWorld and the San Lake SunRail Station. Taxi is the fastest way to get to downtown Orlando, in around 18 minutes. Taxi stands are located in the centre of the arrivals level, alternatively you might like to request a car with Uber or Lyft to get to your destination. You can take the SunRail from the airport via a buslink to the San Lake SunRail station in town. Hotel shuttles and shuttle vans are other convenient ways to travel and located on the ground transport level. There is a shared ride shuttle from Orlando Airport to Disney and its best to reserve these in advance.

Getting around Orlando

Planning to spend some time exploring Orlando? There are plenty of options for getting around the city and beyond. Renting a car is recommended as it’s the most convenient option for getting around Orlando, as many of the top attractions are spread out. If you plan on driving, be sure to keep some cash on hand for tolls. Alternative options include public transport, taxis, ride-share services such as Uber and Lyft and hotel shuttle services. If you plan to stay in the International Drive, also called I-Drive consider purchasing a pass for the I-Ride Trolley which services lots of attractions in the I-Drive area including SeaWorld, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, and more. LYNX, Orlando’s comprehensive bus system can get visitors to most areas in Orlando and beyond. Bus stops are marked with a pink bus or paw print sign and run ever 15, 30, or 60 minutes depending on the route. Orlando’s free downtown circulator bus service offers service throughout the immediate downtown Orlando area. Taxis are typically available at major attractions and most hotels however, most visitors find that renting a car is less expensive than relying on taxis or ride share services.

Auckland Airport (AKL). The airport is a major airline hub in New Zealand and there are many domestic and international destinations for visitors to continue on to.  The airport is located near Mangere,  21 kilometres south of the Auckland city centre.

 Passengers on Qantas flights from Auckland are allocated checked baggage If you need more luggage, you can purchase an additional baggage allowance online prior to departure.      

Checking in 

Ensure you check-in online or via the Qantas App before you arrive at the airport from 24 hours before departure.
