Stretching from the Gallery of Modern Art in the north to the Queensland Maritime Museum in the south, it's famous for its mix of entertainment, recreation and leisure activities that are all within walking distance of each other.
Kick back in a beer garden in one of the transformed shipping containers in Fortitude valley, the hip space spans three levels, including a rooftop bar and alfresco courtyard. A delightfully organic alternative is the area at Wandering Coos in South Brisbane, where you can dine on fresh produce in an urban herb garden.
At the airport: from Brisbane Airport, travel into the city centre via taxi or the AirTrain. Alternatively, you can pre-purchase an arrival transfer shuttle.
In and around the city: Brisbane has an excellent integrated transport system with buses, trains and ferries. There are a range of ticket options including a daily ticket. Walking and cycling are also a great way to get around on more than 1,100km of dedicated pathways.
